Merchandise Prep Supplies

Hangers, white cardstock (best found at office supply stores for $8 - $10 for 250 sheets), safety pins, heavy, clear packing tape, Ziploc bags.

Supplies and hangers can be purchased inexpensively at Wal-Mart, Target, or the Dollar Stores. Hangers can be purchased at local stores ten for about one dollar. You can often pick up hangers at a local thrift stores for less.

You also can reuse the hangers from any new clothes you buy. Wal-mart, JC Penney’s and other department stores will often give out their leftover hangers. It never hurts to ask!

Money

Pricing

You set the price! Price to sell keeping in mind the quality, name brand and condition of your items. Normally 50 - 75% of retail is a good general figure to go by when pricing your items.

Ask yourself "What would I pay?" (FYI - don't ask yourself what would I pay at a garage sale, but "What would I pay at a Consignment Store"?) Remember that money in your pocket is better than over-stuffed closets, so PRICE TO SELL!

We also suggest that you let your clothing items be included in the half-price sale. We'd rather give you a bigger check than a lot of unsold items!

Price your items in $1.00 or .50 cent increments.
No .99 cents please.

SMALLER ITEMS PRICED OVER $50 WILL BE SOLD IN THE DESIGNER BOUTIQUE

Get a good feel for the best pricing options and you'll have enough profit to beef up your savings accounts in no time!

Wedding Dress

Garment Preparation

  • Hang all of your clothing on hangers.

  • Decide on a price and create/print your tags online.

  • SAFETY PIN YOUR TAGS to clothing on the right front, or inside tag. No straight pins.

  • Clothing Sets may be hung on separate hangers: just rubber band the hangers together!

  • Delicate fabrics may be covered with clear plastic from the dry cleaners & tag taped to bag.

  • Please DO NOT place tape over the bar-code on the tag.

  • To prevent any loss due to fraud, we will not accept any items that have crosscuts or scribbles on the tags. If you need to change something on a tag you must make a new tag for that item.

  • Tip: We suggest when creating your tags that you use only lower case letters in the description fields. That should prevent you from having problems when you print your tags.

Tip: Include the brand in your description in case your tag is lost, it will be easier to pair your tag with your item.
Barcode

Tagging & Barcodes

Once you have placed your clothes on hangers, set a price and enter a description and price on the Online Tagging System.

ONLY BAR CODED TAGS WILL BE ACCEPTED

We are so excited with our FREE & EASY online bar coding program! Hand written tags will not be accepted. You will be able to enter, print and track your items online. After the sale you can see which of your items sold online. Just go to the Consignors page, register and start tagging!

To the left you will see an example of a barcode. Please print a test page to make sure your barcode looks clear. You must be able to see the complete barcode and white spaces in between.

If you are printing on a color printer, please make sure you choose “Black Cartridge Only” in your settings, or it will use your color cartridge to print black, which causes it to not print clearly.
